Did you know that you can make significant gifts without reaching for your checkbook and with no impact on your cash flow during your lifetime? While we will always be pleased to accept cash gifts, you may also be interested in deferred giving either through an amendment to your will or your "living" trust.
Did you know you can specify what programs you generally want supported? Or you can specify that your bequest be used as the Pacificans Care Board of Directors deems the highest need, or that it be added to the trust to secure a stable future for those who rely on Pacificans Care.
Gifts by Living Will or Trust
The most common form of deferred gift is a bequest contained in a person's will or revocable living trust. The following language is an example of how a bequest to benefit Pacificans Care may be worded:
"I give, devise and bequeath to Pacificans Care, a qualified 501(c)(3) charitable organization located in Pacifica, California, a specific bequest of $__________, (or other personal or real property appropriately described) or__________ percent of my residual estate to be used exclusively and in accordance with the charitable purposes for which Pacificans Care has been established."
Notes to the above:
If you are amending or re-writing your existing will (or trust) through an attorney, please provide this to him/her for inclusion.
You may amend an existing will with a handwritten (this is important, must be in your own handwriting) amendment similar to the above that you also sign and date. (This often called a codicil.)
Please let us know if you have included Pacificans Care in your estate plans by sending a brief note or email to the address below; this will remain confidential. You can also contact us with any questions you may have.
You may always change your estate plans once again at a later date if you believe it to be necessary or in your family’s interest.
“Residual estate” simply means that part of your estate, if any, left after every other gift you have made in your will is completed.
Donations to a charity, such as Pacificans Care, are deductible for estate tax purposes. The Pacificans Care tax identfications number is 77-0004308.
Also, there are other ways to make testamentary gifts: restricted gifts, donations through your retirement plan, and gifts of real property or other “non-money” personal property gifts. Please use our Contact form to reach us for more information on these options.
